Knitted

Woven reminds us that we are each created lovingly by God. He knows each of us as He knows the stars by name. He understands all things even when we are confused by the disorder and fear around us in the world.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
— Psalm 139 13-14

When we wrote Woven, we used a translation which says He has woven us, but in other Bibles that phrase is translated as He knit us together.

We are knitted in His love. From the womb and into eternity, His love is all wound up with us. He stitched us together, and is weaving us into a lovely mystical fabric that is beyond our present comprehension.

Many of us are struggling with a hovering uncertainty right now because we don’t have control of basic things in our lives, we fear for our health and the health of those we love, and we don’t know how and when this crisis will end, but God knows exactly what’s going on. He will help us through this time of worldwide difficulty. He doesn’t have to put us in lockdown to know where we are. We feel isolated, but God is with us:

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me…
— Psalm 139: 8-10

If God is with us, we have security in Him. We trust Him to guide us and to strengthen us in all things. Trusting Him, we have courage.

We are knitted, not just to be cozy, but to be strong.
